Stapleman, 60th
Clarence and Loretta (Lorie) Stapleman will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Feb. 1 by sharing a special weekend getaway together.
The couple was married in 1964 at St. Joseph’s Church in Racine, and are members of the Racine Bible Church.
The couple met in 1962 when Lorie applied for a retail clerk position at Richman Brothers in Elmwood Plaza, where Clarence was the assistant manager. Clarence called Lorie the next day and told her she got the job.
Their first date was dinner and a movie downtown at the Rialto Theater.
Their happiest moments together were when each of their children were born, bringing them even closer; then when each of their children asked the Lord to be their Savior.
Clarence, a lifelong Racine resident, worked as a salesman for the Lorillard Corp. until he retired in 1998.

Lorie moved to Racine in 1961 and worked as a receptionist at the Racine Medical Clinic, now Ascension All Saints, until she retired in 2009.
She enjoys baking, sewing, cake decorating, helping with social events at the Racine Bible Church, watching Racine Theater Guild performances with Clarence and spending time with family.
The couple attributes their longevity to love, patience, being thoughtful and kind to each other, having similar likes and dislikes, and sharing a common faith in God to be present in their lives and guide them through every day.
Their advice for young people getting married is to express their love for each other every day in any small way, not letting disagreements linger and making God the center of their marriage.
