RACINE — Benjamin Rios, accused alongside his father in connection to a June 14 shooting, pleaded not guilty Thursday.
Benjamin Rios allegedly shot at two men from a silver Jeep near a bar in the 3100 block of Douglas Avenue. No one was struck by gunfire.
Benjamin Rios, who is 21, faces one count of possessing a firearm as a felony adjudicated delinquent; one count of discharging a firearm from a vehicle; and three counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
His father, Santiago Rios, who is 46, faces one count of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and one count of possessing THC. He pleaded not guilty Oct. 24.
Santiago Rios is scheduled to appear in the Racine County Courthouse for a bail/bond hearing Jan. 13. Benjamin Rios is scheduled to appear for a status conference Feb. 3.

Allegations
According to previous reporting, the police were sent to the bar after the city’s detection system issued an alert.
Shell casings reportedly were found near the bar’s front door, although people outside the bar denied hearing or seeing anything.
Surveillance video reportedly shows a silver Jeep approaching two men and gunshots being fired from a person inside the vehicle.
Benjamin Rios was arrested June 27, and the family’s residence was searched Oct. 15. Police also reportedly found a handgun in a truck registered to Santiago Rios.
